• Solanum ​lycopersicum L. ​Large indeterminate plant that produces bunches of 20-40 red small fruit 30-35mm. Flavour is mild and sweet and these a great to pick in bunches and roast together with herbs or add whole to salads. Compliments 'Yellow Currant' for a great salad mix.
  • Cucurbita pepo This is a remarkable pumpkin? squash? whatever you'd like to call it. Large vine producing round green golden stripey fruit that ripens like most pumpkins, leaving them to mature on vine. Finally once opened there's the gift of sweet golden squash like flesh (great for soups) and delicious fresh pepita's which are so good for you. Plant needs lots of room and sun to prosper.
  • Pisum sativum Extreme climber up to 2.5 metres! Heavy yields of large podding pods with sweet non starchy peas inside. Old British heirloom from 1885.
  • Solanum lycopersicum L. An old Australian heirloom and favourite variety that produces lots of large, round red fruit and thrives in Victoria's summers though needs protection from the extreme days as all tomatoes do. Tall vigorous plant that will need staking to support abundant cropping.
  • Cucurbita maxima ‘Just Another Pumpkin’! That’s the story of it’s name but the flavour is excellent and a very popular and reliable pumpkin used all over the world.
  • Allium fistulosum A vigorous and hardy winter variety, this bunching onion has a 35cm long white stalk with 30cm long green leaves and all parts are edible. Excellent mild flavour. Frost tolerant.
  • Capsicum annum This is as diverse a range of chilli's as we can get and gives you a chance to try many and decide what you like. There's Cayenne, Tree Chilli, Thai Hot, Ancho to name a few. Some of these are quite rare and we know you'll enjoy and have fun with these.
  • Brassica oleracea This broccoli has a complex and beautiful fractal pattern sequence with bright lime green colour and completely unique shape. The flavour is fantastic with depth and superior texture. Very ornamental, lovely to watch it grow.
  • Beta vulgaris Deep burgundy beets with sweet good flavour. Often produced for the canning industry as the shape is perfect for slicing.
  • Pisum sativum Climber up to 1.5 metres with beautiful purple/pink flowers which turn into stunning purple pods. Eat when young to maximise the sweetness.
  • Lycopersicum esculentum This beautiful cherry size tomato was voted top in taste tests in the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show in 2015. It has good disease resistance, producing trusses of classic red tomatoes with a sweet and juicy flavour. We love this one! Mulch and stake well. 60 seeds.  
  • Cucurbita moschata Pear shaped pumpkin with pale orange skin, deep orange flesh and small seed cavity. Up to 3kg it’s an ideal size for family's and cooks up any way perfectly. Really good flavour and known through out the world now by many names. Only a reasonable storer compared to others, meaning it will get through winter but no more.
  • Solanum melongena Tall to 1 metre plant with large leaves produces beautiful pink flowers then large jet black fruit. Needs a long season so plant in hothouse or heat mat in very early spring and plant out when soil is warm. Very tender and worth the 90 days till fruit is ready to pick.
  • Cucumis sativus Compact plant with reliable 10cm Lebanese style fruit very tender and sweet. Needs No staking just mulch well with straw so cucumber doesn’t touch the ground making it vulnerable to rot.
  • Solanum lycopersicum L. Medium size red sweet fruit growing on long trusses from large indeterminate plant. Origins from old greenhouse variety in England so known for growing outside or in hot houses. Has good flavour with strong disease resistance & heavy cropping.
  • Solanum ​lycopersicum L. ​Heirloom, and as the name implies a plum tomato of Amish origins who used it for canning & preserving. Large, block shaped Roma type 4cm wide x 5-10cm long and described as rich, sweet flavour cooked or in salads. Indeterminate plant needing staking.
  • Pisum sativum Large heritage Japanese climbing snow pea with flat pods to 13cm yet still tender and sweet. Remarkable is the purple/pink flowers which make this pea quite ornamental and a show piece in the garden.
  • Brassica oleracea ​Tight curled pale green leaves very tender and easy to grow throughout the year. When picked young can be used raw in salads or steamed lightly. Side pick when mature enough.
  • Allium fistulosum The stem and greens can grow to 60cm with a red stalk that is 30cm tall. This is a mild ‘spring onion’ type. Plant late summer/autumn for late winter /spring crop. Will become a deeper red with cold.
  • Daucus carota Coreless tender flesh. Slender and growing only to small to medium so ideal for eating raw or serving on platters.

    Capsicum annuum ​ Long tapering fruit 20cm long goes from a pale translucent green to orange to red while still suspended from the vine. Gets sweeter the longer left. No hint of heat and lovely flavour.

    Phaseolus vulgaris Deep purple pods are oval shape and grow to 15cm on dwarf plants. The purple pods against the luscious green growth make for a beautiful as well as prolific bean plant. Can be eaten raw and when cooked will turn green.
  • Beta vulgaris Really a chard, but so tender & with green stems as well these leaves are as mild as any spinach. Lasts 18 months before going to seed and as the name suggests excellent repeat picking over a long period.
  • Cucurbita moschate An unusual ‘pumpkin’ in that it’s delicious while still young, picked and eaten like a squash or zucchini. Allowed to mature the skin hardens then Tromboccini should be eaten like a pumpkin. Not as sweet as some it still has great flavour and texture. When baked we added herbs and spices which it absorbed beautifully. Great watching the vines spread either on ground where squashes will ‘curl’ or on fence lines where squashes will hang straight.

  • Allium ampeloprasum Classic large heirloom leek straight, thick flavoursome stems growing slowly through Autumn sweetening in Winter.
  • Latuca sativa ​Tight frilly leaves that can be side picked or picked whole. Very hardy and if let will self seed through garden easily. Lovely & tender and great in salads.
  • Capsicum annuum A sun loving plant 1 metre high producing fruit 10cm long x 1.5 wide tapering to soft point. Jalapeno's are traditionally used when bright green but you can leave them on the plant all the way from black to red. Considered very mild and great for stuffing and known for their lovely flavour.
  • Phaseolus vulgaris Reliable round stringless tender dark green bean up to 15cm long. Tall climber 2 metres and more producing lots of white flowers then the lovely slender beans. Considered the best tasting bean Blue Lake is certainly one of the best producers over a long period of time. Copes well with heat and can be grown right through Spring to the early days of Autumn. Needs staking or a strong trellis.
  • Phaseolus vulgaris ​Produces pink flowers, then deep purple tender oval stringless pods up to 18cm long. Very abundant over a long period. Needs staking or a strong trellis growing an impressive 2 metres or more. Always reliable and worth picking when pods are young. Can be eaten raw and when cooked they will turn green.
  • Solanum lycopersicum L. This plant will grow anywhere there's sunshine and water including large pots and keeps giving sweet currant size fruit all Summer. Eat whole in salads or straight off the bush. Research suggests it was found "growing from the crack in a sidewalk in Indianapolis in the mid 100's". Sprawling determinate plant so stake well and leave lots of room.

  • Spinacia oleracea ​Old favourite amongst gardeners with excellent flavour and large quantities of leaves that can be picked at any stage making them perfect for micro leaves as well.
  • Pisum sativum Bush variety of large podded flat pea early maturing and sweet delicious pods. With snow peas up to 12cm long on plant 30cm tall this is value for space.
  • Apium graveolens var. dulce Soft pink base with slight hue up the stem. Lovely flavour with all the crispness and nutrition of all celery plants. Looks great in the garden especially grown with the pale golden ‘self blanching’.
  • Phaseolus vulgaris Dwarf plant producing lots of white flowers and round stringless beans over a long period. A nice snap bean needing very little cooking if picked young. Reliable 14cm pods.
  • Phaseolus vulgaris ​Vibrant yellow podded dwarf bush bean about 15cm long these wonderful butter beans origins seem to come from South Carolina around the 1950’s. The strain is disease resistant, a vigorous grower with a good strong harvest. Best picked early while quite slender and they’ll be plenty to come. These are fun to seed save from as the bean is deep black.
  • Lagenaria siceraria ​​You’ll note by the unusual seed that this is not of the pumpkin or squash family and should be eaten when young like a zucchini. And it’s delicious by all the taste tests. Creamy with great texture. Growing conditions are much like the ‘squash’ Tromboccini and again watching these vigorous plants grow is a delight. Highly recommended and rare.
  • Basella rubra ​Ceylon spinach is an edible perennial plant in tropical climates but enjoys our hot summers. Plant early in trays in warm spot and transplant when weather is warm in hot sheltered position. Eat luscious climbing leaves and tips in salads or use as spinach.
  • Basella rubra ​Malabar spinach is an edible perennial vine found in Asian and Africa and used as a leaf vegetable. Grow here in the heat of spring in trays or hot spot outside and watch this beautiful lush plant climb. Pick leaves and tips to eat raw in salads or use as spinach.
  • Raphanus sativus Cylindrical root red and white skin with white flesh these are a favourite with my radish connoisseurs. They look great and the flavour is sweet without too much spice. Why the name ? yes the French loves their radishes but very few would eat them for breakfast!
  • Pisum sativum Climbing plant up to 2 metres producing white flowers then classic 11cm snow peas. Perfect eaten whole for stir fries or fresh. High yielding, early and loving cool weather, this is a hardy pea.
  • Allium ampeloprasum var. porrum An old heirloom known in American seed catalogues since 1870. Also known as Giant Musselburgh. White long thick stems with creamy heart. Will blanch by hilling up as extends. Plant Autumn-Spring direct or trays & plant out 10cm apart in well composted soil full sun. Mulch well. Harvest as spring onions or strong leeks.
  • Capsicum annuum Compact plant even suitable for a largish pot with beautiful upright green to red fruit reaching upward on top of plant, so quite unusual and ornamental. And of course delicious. Found right through Asia and introduced by the Spanish conquistadors. Considered very hot yet used in most of the Thai dishes we eat. Recommended.
  • Apium graveolens var. dulce Tender long green classic celery that can be blanched or side picked as needed. Good flavour with no bitterness
  • Beta vulgaris This variety dates back to the 1880's or more. Beautiful gold to orange glow and lovely sweet flavour - in fact one of our favourites! It doesn't bleed like most beets so even more reason to like it.
  • Phaseolus coccineus Originally from the mountains of Central America, Scarlet Runners are often grown as an ornamental as the flowers with contrasting green leaves are dramatic & beautiful. Planted in spring the climber can produce flowers all summer till autumn when the beans begin to set in the cooler weather. Beans when picked young are long flat tender and very tasty. Or let beans dry on plant and are considered tasty.

  • Spinacia oleracea ​ Considering it's heat tolerance this spinach is delicate and tender with triangular indented leaves on fine stems. Origins in the Middle East. Often used in hydroponics but great in the garden too.
  • Raphanus sativus Bright purple skin with white flesh. 3-5cm globes with sweet crisp flesh and doesn’t get pithy.
